About me
A young Turkish pianist who aims to be a representer of love and hope on the world stages. The geography that she was born has unique cultural beauties which besides consists elements from East and West cultures. Music is a universal language which embraces and unites the people all around the world. She believes in the huge connecting power of this art which extinguishes the obstacles between the people without discrimination. Pursuing the path of music has always been her greatest curiosity. There is an endless ocean waiting to be explored and to be shared. For sure, it is priceless to share experiences and emotions through performing and teaching music.
Burcu Gündoğdu is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Music Pegagogy at Zürcher Hochschule der Künste since September 2023 with Prof. Hans-Jürg Strub. In July 2023, She gratuated with “excellence” from her Bachelor’s Degree at Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien with Prof. Klaus Sticken. She is frequently performing solo and chamber music repertoire in Europe and Türkiye. Playing with different and unusual ensembles has a special place in her heart. It is a passion for her to nurture her music with different instruments, different combinations, different colours. Each new colour that she comes together with, opens another door to her musical view.
She has completed her Bachelor’s Degree in piano performance at Music and Arts University of the city of Vienna where she made her first step as an Erasmus student in 2018. She studied also one year Music Education – Voice and Instruments (IGP) at the same institution. She has been awarded with the 3. Prize at Vienna New Year’s International Music Competition, 1. Prize in Edelweiss Piano Competition 2017 and with the 2. Prize in Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition. She took part in Academy Festival 2022 where she had the great opportunity to work with Prof. Jacques Ammon. She also worked with the legendary Turkish pianist Idil Biret at Ayvalik International Summer Academy 2017. She participated in Mozarteum Summer Academy 2016 with Prof. Robert Levin which had been a milestone in her musical life. Gökhan Aybulus, Denys Proshayev, Henri Sigfridsson, Hisako Kawamura also have been significant pianists that she took part in their masterclasses. She has been chosen as a “Young Talent” where she entitled to perform F. Mendelssohn’s 1st Piano Concerto with Eskisehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra at the age of 16. Burcu got her first music lessons from her uncle. She graduated from Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory Secondary School. Continued her education in H.U. Ankara State Conservatory Music and Performing Arts Highschool with Asst. Prof. Menekse Akar and completed her studies with the an honorary degree.
